原則2:使う上で自由度が高いこと
(flexibility in use)
使う人のさまざまな好みや能力に合うように作られていること。

individual preferences and abilities.

原則3:使い方が簡単ですぐわかること
(simple and intuitive)
使う人の経験や知識、言語能力、集中力に関係なく、使い方がわかりやすく作られていること。
Use of the design is easy to understand,
regardless of the user's experience, knowledge, language skills, or current
concentration level.

不必要に複雑にしない。

原則4:必要な情報がすぐに理解できること
(perceptible information)
使用状況や、使う人の視覚、聴覚などの感覚能力に関係なく、必要な情報が効果的に伝わるように作られていること。

information effectively to the user, regardless of ambient conditions or the
user's sensory abilities.

大切な情報を十分に伝えられるように、絵や文字、手触りなど異なった方法を併用する。
Use different modes (pictorial, verbal,
tactile) for redundant presentation of essential information.
大切な情報はできるだけ強調して読みやすくする。

原則5:うっかりミスや危険につながらないデザインであること
(tolerance for error)
ついうっかりしたり、意図しない行動が、危険や思わぬ結果につながらないように作られていること。

adverse consequences of accidental or unintended actions.

危険やミスをできる限り防ぐ配慮をすること:頻繁に使うものは最もアクセスしやすくし、危険なものはなくしたり、隔離したり、覆うなどする。

isolated, or shielded.
危険なときやミスをしたときは警告を出す。

原則6:無理な姿勢をとることなく、少ない力でも楽に使用できること

効率よく、気持ちよく、疲れないで使えるようにすること。

どんな体格や姿勢、移動能力の人にも、アクセスしやすく、操作がしやすいスペースや大きさにすること。

approach, reach, manipulation, and use regardless of user's body size,
posture, or mobility.
