「都市のまなざしー可視と不可視のあいだ」
本展覧会は、2013年に開催予定の名古屋学芸大学 (NUAS) 映像メディア学科とライプツィヒ視覚芸術アカデミー(HGB)による国際交流展に向けてのプレ企画として実施されるものです。日本とドイツという異なる文化的背景で、写真や映像という共通のメディアを学ぶ学生が、対話をはじめるスターティングポイントとなります。 今回のテーマは「都市」です。都市といっても、雑踏、高層ビル、歴史的な痕跡や国家を代表するモニュメントなど、想起するものは様々だと思います。もちろん、日本とドイツではその景観からして大きく異なります。しかし、出品者がそれぞれのまなざしを投げかけたときに、国家や歴史という大きなフレームで規定された従来のイメージでは見いだせない固有の「都市」が浮かびあがるかもしれません。

Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig (ライプツィヒ視覚芸術アカデミー) は1764年に開学された、ヨーロッパで最も伝統のある芸術アカデミーの一つです。ファインアート、グラフィックデザイン、写真、ニューメディアの学科を持ち、Joachim Brohm、Heidi Specker等の日本でも著名な写真家が教鞭をとっています。

Pre-Exhibition for the International Exchange Program
“Cityscapes – In between the visible and invisible”
“Stadtansichten – Zwischen dem Sichtbaren und Unsichtbaren”
[Introduction]
This exhibition is a preview of the international exchange exhibition in 2013 by Nagoya University of Arts and Sciences (NUAS) and Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig (HGB). It will be the starting point for a discussion between two groups of students with different cultural backgrounds, but who are studying the same media such as photography and video.The theme of the exhibition is “Cityscapes”. When you think about the concept of Cityscapes, you may have several typical associations, such as crowds in urban spaces, high-rise buildings and old monuments that represent national identity or historical references and so on. Of course the Cityscapes of each country varies widely. However if we couple our multiple views of the City, we may reveal our own City which would be different from the typical images of urbanism as defined by national and historical ideas.

Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig (Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig) is one of the oldest art schools in Europe, dating back to 1764.The school has four colleges specializing in fine arts, graphic design, photography and new media art with around 600 students. Prof.Joachim Brohm and Prof.Heidi Specker are well known photographer in Japan.

The Gallery is located on the 8th floor of Aichi Arts Center, a three-minute-walk via Oasis 21 Park from Sakae station on the Higashiyama and Meijo subway lines or Sakaemachi station on the Meitetsu Seto Line.Pay parking lots are available on the underground floors of the Arts Center.
